The College communicates regularly with the parents/guardians/carers via our COMPASS portal.
Once enrolled, the parents/guardians/carers have access to our school-specific COMPASS portal where they can access a range of services, including student reports, managing absences, newsletters and more. All important information and critical messages will be sent to the nominated phone numbers and email addresses.
Each student is expected to loan a school’s laptop at a voluntary fee of $50 per year. We have two part-time IT Technicians on both of our campuses to help students to trouble-shoot any ICT problems they may have.
We use Google Education Suite (hyperlink) and Microsoft Office 365 (hyperlink) to complement our classroom teaching and learning at Lavers Hill K-12 College.
In addition to that, our secondary students have access to Education Perfect and Edrolo for further resources and interactive learning, as directed by their teachers.
In addition to the DET initiative, we have established a connection to a local visiting psychologist that our students and their families may choose to access with their Mental Health Care Plan or NDIS. Specific requests can be made to accommodate the individual needs of our students.
Primary
PAT is used extensively by schools across Australia as an online assessment tool to identify student’s growth and areas of improvement. This is conducted twice a year, usually at the end of Term One and the beginning of Term Four. The data will then inform the direction of our school’s improvement focus and allow us to provide individualised intervention, if needed.
EA is an assessment platform that allows teachers to pre-assess students within each major strand or sub-strand of the Australian/Victorian Curriculum and the teachers will use the data to inform specific teaching strategies/areas. EA differs from PAT in that EA is not as vigorous as PAT and EA can be conducted multiple times within a specific strand.

EP is an online learning platform that covers most key subject areas across Y7-10. It provides interactive lessons, quizzes and tests. We ask parents/carers/guardians to pay a small voluntary fee to subsidise EP subscription.
In addition to classroom teaching, we also enrol VCE students in selected Edrolo subjects as Edrolo provides video-by-topic for our students, which is beneficial to allow students to go over specific topics that they may find challenging. We ask parents/carers/guardians to pay a small voluntary fee to subsidise Edrolo subscription.
